Pretty shoes but not water resistant in the slightest

I guess that for $255 I expected better. After owning these shoes for just a few months I noticed that whenever I walked in any sort of moisture or dew my socks would get SOAKED. It may just be my pair that wasn't made properly but the leather bottom sole is coming apart from the body of the boot, meaning that they are now not water resistant. It limits how and where I can wear them. I can't walk in grass, for example, with them unless it's a very dry day due to the dew. Other than that the boots are good and comfortable but for $255 eekkk. I may have just gotten unlucky with my pair.

Hi Bananna,
If you could please send a few good, clear photos of the issue to info@americanduchess.com, our customer service team will be happy to help you!

Beautiful Boots

I love these beautiful boots. They fit perfectly (although they are a little difficult to get on. Time will fix that.) I can't wait for fall to wear them.

Needed Motivation

I've been putting off building my regency wardrobe and purchased these boots to force my hand. They are wonderfully comfortable, even while breaking them in.I suspect the long pointed toe helps a great deal in this regard. A bit awkward to the modern eye, but I don't doubt they'll look beautiful peaking out from the skirt of a regency gown.

Hartfields fit my EE feet!

I don’t believe it - they’re beautiful and perfect, and they FIT! I wear a 6 1/2 EE, and the 7 is an exact fit. I’m ecstatic. I’ve been looking for the perfect Regency boot for years. Tried the Emmas about a year ago, 7 1/2 was way too narrow and too long. Have found a couple of possibles on Etsy, but they didn’t have the fabulous AD heels, which give them the exactly correct look. I had hopes there would be a Regency boot in your wide collection (and I still would love to have some wide Emmas please), but I’m getting ready for the Jane Austen Festival in Bath next year, and I had to get some boots soon to have time to break them in, so I figured what the heck, I’d give the Hartfields a try, I could always send them back. 7 1/2 was out of stock, so I went with the 7, which really made me sure I’d have to return them. SO pleasantly surprised that they’re staying with me! The long toes are going to take some getting used to, but they’re absolutely period correct, and I’m pretty sure they’re what make them fit my wide feet so well. Was also surprised by the color, more of an ecru than ivory - which was what I wanted - so another plus. Thanks so much for my wonderful new boots!

We're so glad the Hartfields worked for you! They are produced in a standard women's width, folks with wider feet can often find that their feet overhang the soles uncomfortably.

Hartfield review

These are wonderful shoes: comfortable, great looking, good for all sorts of occasions. Unfortunately, they are very difficult to get on and off, and they wear out VERY quickly. I walk about 15-30 minutes a day, and I wear these boots maybe 3-5 times a week...and after three months, the heel is nearly gone. The toe tips have nearly been worn through as well, and one shoe even has the sole peeling away! I emailed American Duchess about the problem, and they told me I need to have a covbler make alterations to the shoe ($$$) or I need to buy more shoe care products ($$$)...or else, I guess, I just walk wrong? Anyways, LOVE these shoes, but buyer beware: they are some of the most fragile I've ever owned.
