Our Claire 1940s Oxfords meet all the requirements of a sensible shoe while also being stylish and unique.

Claire 1940s Oxfords are direct reproductions of an original CC41 compliant "Academy Girl" brand shoe. They meet all the requirements for most military unit dress shoes and are similar in design and decoration to original styles sold as military dress shoes by historic brands such as Red Cross and Lotus.

Claires are constructed of a black calf leather upper, lined in brown pigskin leather, with leather soling and a 1.6 in / 4 cm stacked-look heel, just like the original.

Awesome!!!! In A Wide Width, Too!

I suffer from shoe envy because I'm a D width girl in a B width world. I put this pair on the nanosecond I got them, and I didn't have to sigh because they were ever so slightly too narrow. Perfect fit!

My first AD purchase & not my last!

These were my first purchase from American Duchess, and I was blown away by the quality & comfort of these shoes. They are so stylish, and a perfect compliment to skirts and dresses. I didn't find the shoe uncomfortable for my first wear, but the soles did feel rather slippery. I think with more wear that may stop, but do note these have smoother soles rather than the traction we're used to in modern shoes! Additionally, these 'wides' are a proper 'wide' to where I could have likely sized down a half size easily. We'll see if that leads to any issues as the leather stretches over time, but currently it doesn't bother me.

We're so glad you like them!
If you have wide feet, and purchased the same size you usually wear in regular width shoes, that may explain why the wide is a bit big on you. Many folks who have wide feet have been unknowingly going up a half size in regular width shoes to make it work, and don't realize their real size is acutally smaller.

For example, if you've been wearing a 7.5 regular width heel, but have a wide foot, your actual true foot size may be 7W, you've just been sizing up when wearing regular width shoes.
