Perfect for a summer wedding

I have a wedding in England this summer and found the dress ages ago. It occurred to me that the dress would require a particular pair of shoes - more because that is my personality. Sometimes I care more about the shoes than the dress! I stumbled upon this site somehow - not even looking for shoes - and these popped up. The French Blue is the exact shade I need and the shoes looked beautiful. I did order the button hook because of the reviews. However, I have slim though regular width foot with a slightly lower arch. I was able to slip these on easily with the button already fastened. They still feel secure but it really was not difficult to put them on this way. I did not receive the button hook in the shipment with my shoes and will have to return it if it arrives as I have no use for it. While not purchased to fit a period dress these are beautiful with the modern style I have. They are also really beautiful shoes. I was pleased by the extra cushioning in just the right spots. They are very comfortable right out of the box. I have a slight bunion on one foot but the toe box, while slightly pointed is not tight. I sometimes size up on heels or very pointed shoes to give more space in the toe box but these fit perfectly and true to size. I am looking forward to wearing them and buying other things to match my shoes as they are so flattering I definitely want to wear them more often.

Hi Lissa,

It doesn't look like you added a button hook to your order with the Maes, but since it sounds like you don't need it, it all works out in the end!

Splendiferous!

These beautiful shoes run true to size and were still comfortable after several hours of wear on the first outing. ❤️

Beautiful and elegant

I normally wear 10.5, I ordered 10.5, and it fit great. Even in a relatively larger size, the shoe looks elegant and proportional, snd the heel shape makes it comfortable to wear. A button hook is a must-have for fastening the buttons.

Pretty design, defective button

The shoes are beautiful and comfortable. The only problem is wearing them, which is hard because the buttons ***keep. breaking. off.*** while I'm walking in them.

I bought a shoe button hook tool just to enjoy these shoes. I have been to the shoe repair store 4 times for this problem with these shoes--but I've only worn them 5 times. Today, *both* buttons snapped off the same day while walking. I'm so frustrated. My arch is low.

I bought these shoes back in March of this year, so it's too late to return them. They're so pretty and comfortable that I'm dying to make these shoes work, but so far they're just not. :/ I think my pair may be defective.

We're so sorry you're having issues with your Maes and we're happy to chat futher to find a solution! The fact that they continue to come off after repair indicates the problem isn't a defect in the shoe; it means there's a fit issue or other force causing the problem. Moving the button closer to the edge of the shoe to give more room and decrease tension could be beneficial. You can have the button moved by your cobbler or we have instructions on moving the buttons yourself here: https://www.americanduchess.com/pages/how-to-move-shoe-boot-buttons
Please feel free to reach out to our team at info@americanduchess.com so we can find out more and explore the issue in more detail!
