Description

Introducing Edith, the spool-heeled Edwardian boot you have been dreaming of. Carefully designed and based on antique originals, Edith is accurate to 1890 through 1920. Edith features a custom, curvaceous, and perfectly-balanced 3”/ 7.6 cm French spool heel, which makes an ideal base for our custom last. Edith’s super-soft leather uppers are crowned with a splendidly shaped top, and set off by handsome broguing on the shaft and toecap. The period-accurate curve along the back of the boot gracefully hugs the calf, just like real Edwardian boots. Available in both standard and wide width, Edith fits a wide range of calf sizes. Each pair of Ediths comes with two sets of laces, for increased adjustability. The top of Edith Boots do not extend to the widest part of the calf muscle. Measurements scale slightly based on size.

Calf size range: 10-13.5 inches / 25.4 - 35.6 cm
Shaft height (does not include heel): 8 inches / 20.3 cm

    Lovely Shape and Comfortable

I fell in love with the boots as soon as I saw them and pre-ordered them as soon as I could. When they arrived, I admit that I was a little disappointed at some of the construction of the shoes - the interior eyelet grommets are off center on most of the eyelets, which makes lacing them more difficult than they should be, but as it was the inside, I decided to keep them.

The other thing I noticed is how much narrower the shoe base is compared to the other American Duchess shoes I have - the size five (so glad that my size is actually stocked, it is so hard to find my size in modern shoes!) is about a quarter inch narrower, so caution for those that are trying to decide between normal and wide width. The shown example is my everyday shoe of Kedwardian Oxfords.

I have worn the Edith boots for about 8 hours, and the narrower width was tight at first, after a while the leather does stretch to fit your foot more.

We're so glad you love the Ediths!

The flat measure of the outside sole isn't actually an indication of the inside width of the shoe - two styles can be made on the same last and have exactly identical interiors, while having completely different exterior sole widths.

On top of that, the Edith is made from a delightfully soft and supple leather, which will stretch beautifully to create a custom fit for your foot. Since it's softer than many of our other leathers, you do want it to feel comfortably snug to start, so that as it stretches it doesn't end up too big!

    Excellent and Attractive

These were a surprisingly comfortable pair of boots out of the box. Wore them for about five or so hours (on and off my feet) to wear them in and wasn’t suffering by the end of it. Quite a narrow fit so would probably recommend sizing up if you wanted to wear thicker socks with them, but they will stretch.
I would recommend being careful when unlacing them, unfortunately when unlacing the short pair of laces it came prelaced with, the aglet popped right off the end of one pair. Good thing it comes with a spare pair of (longer) laces. Just something to keep in mind.

We're glad to hear you love the boots, and sorry to hear about the aiglet trouble!

As the eyelets are small and there's loads of them, some care is absolutely recommended when lacing and unlacing. Luckily, these boots are gorgeous and comfy enough to be worth that extra time and attention! We'll reach out to you about fixing that aiglet shortly.
