Description

Marjorie sets the standard for 1920s day shoes! The perfect counterpart to glamorous 1920s evening shoes, Marjorie features a classically 1920s silhouette in smooth leather that is casual enough for day-wear, and elegant enough to take you into the evening with ease. Marjorie’s subtle simplicity is set off by gorgeous woven leather detailing over the toe. Based on an original leather day shoe from the 1920s, Marjorie is accurate to the 1920s-1940s.

Marjorie features perfectly balanced, custom American Duchess 2”/5.08 cm French heels, a rounded toe, leather strap with a functional button, and sealed leather soles. Wear Marjorie with 1920s dropped-waist dresses, 1930s skirt suits, or with modern trousers for a touch of vintage flair.

I would really like to give 4.66 Stars. The Marjorie pumps are really cute with the decorative stitching, a strap that isn't too chunky or too thin and a delightful vintage shape heel. It is tall enough to be elegant but not so tall as to be uncomfortable or unstable. The cordovan leather is the perfect color to go with many outfits in one's wardrobe. While I was a little concerned at first about the snugness of the toebox, as the leather warmed up, it was not at uncomfortable. I would like to take 1/3 star off the score because the first attempt to button them, it was nearly impossible. as brand new shoes, the leather is naturally a bit stiff and the button is small, slippery and difficult to maneuver. I really thought about searching for a buttonhook. (I see now that they are for sale on the website, but if you are a fan of old things, I think that the search for a button hook in an antique store would be fun, and probably a fraction of the cost.) I finally got it buttoned, and it was easier the second time as the button hole had relaxed a bit. Overall I am really pleased with everything about these shoes except the harsh words we had at the very beginning of our relationship. *I normally wear a size 10, and was happy I ordered a 10.5. Thank You, American Duchess, for offering such a wide size range!!

Absolutely adorable!

I don’t like to wear heels but these are very comfy and sturdy so I can wear them out with no problems. The brown is so cute and I can’t wait to incorporate these shoes into more of my outfits!

Stylish comfort

Love how these shoes look and feel! I am often on my feet for long periods of time and these are the most comfortable dress shoes I have worn for periods longer than 3 hours.

Rounded toe is great for feet!

I love that this shoe has a rounded toe! My feet are happy that my pinky and next two toes are not getting crushed against the sides of the shoes and I can wear them for all day without my toenails getting deformed! Thank you so much!
The only thing that has happened is that the elastic holding the button had gotten so stretched that it can no longer be called elastic… but the button is still attached.

Lovely cut but not adjustable

Love the cut of the vamp, very flattering. The leather detail is a nice extra touch. The heel height is perfect! Quite comfortable. Sad to send back. The cordovan reads dark brown and my other cordovan shoes and polishes have a more red/burgundy tint than these. Also the lack of an adjustable buckle is a no for me. Although I could move the button, that is a more permanent solution. The issue is dancing means a tighter fit that then needs loosening as feet swell, and much easier to adjust in different climates. Also, since cordovan didn't work, would love to see an actual.burgundy or navy added to collection. I would get both!
