Pretty Dang Great but…

I’ve purchased two pairs of these shoes in the past year and with both pairs, the first time putting them on, the button on the left shoe popped off.
There’s a cobbler near my office who fixed them for ~$15 so no biggie, but I’m surprised it has happened twice.
Regardless, prob going to buy another pair when my current ones wear out.

That is a bit odd! Feel free to reach out to us at info@americanduchess.com and we can look into what's going on.

Keep in mind that the Millies shouldn't wear out for many years if you're maintaining them - check out our shoe care pages in the info menu to make sure you're getting a lifetime of wear out of them!

Good shoe! Runs large.

I’m always pleased with my American duchess purchased. Millie is beautiful, comfortable, and sturdy. An excellent addition to my 1920s history bounding wardrobe. I usually have no fit issues with your shoes, but these left a 1/2-inch gap at the back of my foot, so maybe others should order a half-size smaller? I have a wide foot, but have never had complaints about the width of your regular shoes, when I order a half-size larger to accommodate it. Overall, a very good shoe! ❣️ I love American Duchess!

love these :3

I previously had the higher heeled vers of these shoes and I’ve worn them in to hell and back but the heel was too high for me personally to be wearing them everyday (I mostly walk and take public transport for my whole day). Lots of the long wear advice and comments I have for this shoe are taken from the higher heeled version, seeing as this shoe is the Anna May Wong but with a shorter heel, but anything besides that is just my thoughts abt this exact shoe.

These came w all the pros of the previous shoe but the lower heel gives it a very ‘cute’ silhouette and it’s very comfortable! They need wearing in as all leather shoes do, but once they’ve molded around your foot they are very comfortable. I recommend wearing them in with socks at first, especially around the house.

This isn’t necessarily a con so much as just something to consider about the design; the pointed toe is a lovely design however as with all pointed toe shoes it will naturally rub more on your pinkie toe. I always wear these with socks (be it ankle, knee or ‘invisible’ socks) for the friction, but I also have this problem w lots of other shoes so it might be my own foot. However seeing as the other version of these quickly took the shape of my foot with consistent wear, these have started to do the same when I started wearing them daily and walking around! They’ve very stable and do not feel like they’ll slip off thanks to the strap and the heel design that wraps the foot, and I’ve even sprinted in these with no issue (besides having to just be mindful of the heel).

Last thing, bc I’ve seen it with the higher heeled version: With heavy wear, especially on streets and other terrain thst is tougher than tiled or carpeted floors, you will likely need to replace the sole after a year or so. I didn’t notice any holes or structural flaws so much as the sole just getting a bit thin, same with the heel piece (which, heel piece extras are graciously provided by American duchess with your new shoes, as well as button replacements! Absolutely a life saver and remarkable foresight from the company, so don’t worry abt that). As for the sole, I just used those as all terrain shoes so I had to get a rubber sole installed after a good amount of use. I also recommend investing is polish and leather conditioner for these shoes if you intend to use them lots - the leather will be moisturizer and it helps revitalize the “out of the box” look time and time again with proper care. Even without all these extras not provided by the company, every shoe I’ve bought from A.D. still holds up extremely well! I’m just mentioning all this because I’ve loved the other vers of these shoes dearly, and it has begun to show, but take that as a testament to the quality of the shoe. These have proved to be no different.

tldr-very good shoes that i intend to use daily, and are absolutely gorgeous without sacrificing much practicality. Needs to be worn in although it isn’t actually uncomfortable doing so, just be mindful that a pointed toe = friction on your pinkie. Still, you can stand for a long time in these and even sprint. Good shoes :3
