Renoir
The Renoir mid-Victorian boots are one of our oldest offerings, first available back in 2014. Over the years we've made small changes to this classic 1850s - 1880s boot, including expanding the range of available colors in 2021. Now there are even more colors to choose from, with three new two-tones.
Boots like these were extremely fashionable in the crinoline and bustle eras. As shorter walking-length skirts came into vogue, boots and shoes got fancier, more eye-catching, and two-tones were the very height of chic. The Renoirs will carry you through Dickens fairs and events for both bustle periods, and are also pretty darn snazzy for Steampunk and historybounding.
Manhattan
Once we get to the 1890s, the silhouette of women's footwear changes noticeably. While choice in the late Victorian period was broader than ever before, the most fashionable shoes and boots had pointed toes and high French heels. This silhouette continued into the first half of the 1920s, with button boots reaching their peak in the mid 19-teens Great War era.
During this 30+ year period, button boots came in all sorts of colors and material combos. The Manhattans cover the trendy cloth-top contingent, with canvas and leather uppers in six color combos, including the wildcard French blue and ivory (we couldn't resist!) More on Manhattans and cloth-top Edwardian boots soon.
